This Sunday, we join with siblings of faith throughout The United Church of Canada and other religious traditions around our country in observing the National Indigenous Day of Prayer. As we continue to wrestle with the legacy and ongoing realities around the treatment of First Nations, Metis, and Inuit peoples in Canada, and especially the history and continuing trauma of the Indian Residential School system, here at Cloverdale United Church we will spend time together this week in truth-telling, remembrance, and deep lament. We will hear what Word might be spoken to us today through the Bible's famous story about David and Goliath, and we will pray for the continuing and renewed work of the Spirit within and among us as we journey forward.
