We're very excited this Sunday for the opportunity to worship God together in person, gathering outdoors in our parking lot! It will be good to reconnect and see everyone's faces!
One of King David's first actions as the newly crowned king of all Israel is to bring the Ark of the Covenant -- the physical symbol of God's presence with the people -- into the new capital and city of God, Jerusalem. David and his helpers do so with such boisterous, enthusiastic acts of praise and dancing that he draws the criticism of onlookers. The scene asks us the question, for what work of God are we willing to make ourselves "contemptible" in others' eyes?
