"It's All for Joy"

This Sunday is “Connection Sunday”, our fall kick-off! We’re looking forward to a great celebration of God, grace, and community as we transition into the fall season here at Cloverdale United Church. Our choir resumes its ministry for a new season, as does our Children’s Church. A Sunday not to miss!

The Blessing of the Backpacks: As part of worship this week, we celebrate the beginning of a new school year for students, teachers, and school staff of any age (including college and university friends!). Bring a backpack, briefcase, tote, binder, tablet, or chromebook—whatever is a good representation of school for you!—for this special blessing. Students and staff will be invited up to be prayed for and receive a special tag for their bags to remind them that God is with them and that their church family will be praying for them.

We also recognize with the events of this past week, particularly the tragedy in Saskatchewan at the James Smith Cree Nation and the passing away of HM The Queen, that as we gather we do so in the midst of trauma, mourning, and change.  At the opening of our worship, we will pause for a rite of recognition, reflection, and prayer around those realities.
