Christ the King Sunday

Today we mark Christ the King Sunday (also known in some circles as “Reign of Christ Sunday”).  On this final Sunday of our annual worship cycle, before a new liturgical year begins next week with the First Sunday of Advent, our journey through the life, teachings, and ministry of Jesus culminates in a celebration of his ultimate lordship over all.  The observance also serves well as a transitional day leading into the season of Advent that is ahead:  the emphasis today on the final and ultimate majesty and rule of Christ leans into Advent’s expectation of Christ’s coming again at the culmination of all time—an expectation that will take centre stage especially in the early weeks of Advent, before our attention turns toward the remembrance of Christ’s first coming that we mark at Christmas.

• Sunday, Dec. 24^th @ 7:00 pm:
  The Birth of Our Lord – Christmas Eve
  A heart-warming and joyful worship experience for Christmas!  Intergenerational and kid-friendly elements, music from our Choir, candlelight, lots of carols old and new, and the Communion Feast at Christ's Table.
• Sunday, Dec. 31^st @ 10:30 am:
  Readings, Reflections, & Carols for Christmas & the New Year
  An uplifting worship experience for Christmas featuring a variety of readings old and new, poetic reflections, heart-felt prayer, and a diverse collection of songs of the season. Worship leadership courtesy of members of our choir.

(Do take note of the fact that Christmas Eve does fall on Sunday this year.  The morning worship service at 10:30 am on that day will be the worship service for the 4^th Sunday of Advent.  It is due to this calendar reality that we are planning only a single Christmas Eve service that evening rather than dual services.)
