This Sunday: Our 81st annual Music Sunday…
Now in its 81st year, we’re looking forward to our congregation’s annual “Music Sunday” worship celebration this week! Our choir will raise prayer and praise with multiple selections, including one in Korean, guest musicians will join us, and all of our voices will be raised in worship through diverse hymnody and song.
After the worship service, there will be the choir’s traditional hosting of a feast of Strawberry Shortcake and other strawberry delights for our usual time of food-and-fellowship in the lower hall (a.k.a. coffee hour)!
And then, beginning at 12:00 Noon, anyone interested is welcome and invited to return to the sanctuary for a wonderful piano recital for two accomplished students in the private piano studio of our director of music, Dr. Emma Rui-Xuan Shi. Hanna Wang and Adam Giorgis will grace our space with music by Bach, Mozart, Amy Beach, Sun Yiquian, Gershwin, Chopin, Prokofiev and more. A third one of Emma’s students, Amice Xu, will provide our worship service’s postlude music, with selections by Liszt and Burge. (Apologies for the shorter-than-ideal break between the end of the worship service and the beginning of the recital; as it turns out, one of the recitalists also has a figure skating exam Sunday afternoon!)
