“Landscapes for Life”
Through this week’s scripture readings, God puts before us a set of contrasts. In Luke, we hear Jesus speaking of the poor, the hungry, the persecuted, all being considered respected, honourable, blessed in God's eyes… and the rich, the full, the popular, all being put on alert, called to be ready for God's great reversal. In the testimony of the prophet Jeremiah, we hear of a path of blessing for those who trust in God and a path of curses for those “who trust in mere mortals.” From times of old, God has been at work helping us to see the contrasting landscapes that lay before us, and inviting us to choose the paths that lead to true abundance of life.
