28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week, we return to the gospel of Matthew and hear Jesus tell one of his parables, those open-to-many-interpretations stories that he told to help his followers see something new about God’s work and God’s ways. In this week’s parable, the scene is a wedding banquet, but one at which the expected guests don’t show up! Who gets invited in the end? And what are the expectations of taking up the invitation? Perhaps you’ve heard it said that God has an ‘A-list’… well, might Jesus be pointing to a different understanding of God’s priorities and preferences?
